Straight to the point: why is the 4th of July celebrated and known as an official holiday in the United States? Historically, what happened on this exact day? Join us to find out!

Also known as Independence Day, On July 4, 1776, the Second Continental Congress unanimously adopted the Declaration of Independence, announcing the colony’s separation from Great Britain. The constitution then provides the legal and governmental framework for the United States. Philadelphians marked the first anniversary of American independence with a spontaneous celebration, which is solely described in a letter that was written by John Adams. However, celebrating an official Independence Day only became “real” after the war of 1812.  For all Americans, the most joyous year was in 1870 when the Fourth of July was marked as the most important secular holiday on the calendar. Shortly after, the American Congress passed a law making Independence Day a federal holiday on June 28, 1870.

So then, why is the 4th of July such an important date for the United States? It is clearly the most important holiday of the year because this day commemorates and celebrates the passage of the Declaration of Independence by the Continental Congress on July 4, 1776. This declaration announced the official political separation of the 13 North American colonies from Great Britain. Now you can get a better understanding as to WHY this date symbolizes FREEDOM for the Americans.

4th of July is only 3 days away and we only want to wish all of you fellow Americans a wonderful, joyful and PATRIOTIC celebration with all your loved ones! After a very hard year of not being able to unite and have family celebrations due to the pandemic, this year we are blessed to be able to celebrate this important holiday FREELY, exactly what independence day means, total freedom.

BE FREE, BE HAPPY, BE PATRIOTIC. HAPPY 4TH OF JULY TO EVERYONE!
